How Birma, a reminder app developed and operated by KurdiCode, handles your information.
Your privacy comes first. Birma is built local-first: your reminders, checklists, habits, notes, and location rules are created and stored on your device, and the app works fully offline with no account required.
A few features are optional and reach beyond your device — cloud sync, the AI assistant, and Birma Pro. You choose whether to turn each one on, and the sections below explain exactly what is shared when you do.
We never sell your data, never show ads, and never use your information for tracking or profiling. Data only ever leaves your device for a feature you have switched on yourself.
Cloud sync is optional. If you create an account and turn it on, a copy of your data is saved to our secure cloud (powered by Supabase) so you can back it up and use it across more than one device.
You stay in control of what syncs. In Account → What’s synced you can switch sync on or off for each type of data: reminders, habits, profile & avatar, custom categories, medications, and app settings.
We use your email address to sign you in (phone sign-in is coming later). You can change your email or password, sign out, or permanently delete everything stored in the cloud at any time from the Account screen.
Google Drive backup is a separate, optional choice under Settings → Backup. If you sign in with Google there, Birma saves a backup file of your data to your own Google Drive, and can restore it later or refresh it automatically. Birma asks for a single restricted permission — Drive’s hidden “app data” area — so it can only see the files it created itself and has no access to the rest of your Drive. The backup lives in your Google account, not on our servers; we never receive it. You can turn the backup off, delete it, or revoke Birma’s access from your Google account settings at any time.
The AI assistant is optional and stays off until you switch it on. Free accounts get a small number of AI actions each day; Birma Pro removes that cap. The first time you reach for it, Birma shows you exactly what would be sent and asks your permission. Nothing leaves your device before you agree, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Permissions.
Once you agree, these are sent over an encrypted connection through Birma’s own proxy on Cloudflare to our AI provider, Anthropic PBC: the message you type or dictate, any photo, screenshot or file you attach, and the reminder, habit, checklist or profile details needed to answer you — including health details such as your age, allergies or medications when you pick a prompt that uses them.
Anthropic processes that data under its commercial terms of service, which require it to keep your data confidential and secure, to use it only to provide the service, and not to use it to train its models. The data is never sold and never used for advertising, and we do not build a profile from it. Your conversations are kept on your device. If you never switch the assistant on, nothing is ever sent.
Birma Pro is an optional subscription. Purchases are processed by the App Store or Google Play and managed for us by RevenueCat. Birma never sees or stores your card or banking details — those are handled entirely by Apple or Google.
To keep your subscription in sync across devices, RevenueCat receives a random app user ID and your purchase receipt. You can cancel anytime from your App Store or Google Play account.
Birma contains no advertising networks, no analytics SDKs, no crash trackers, and no profiling tools. The only outside services we use exist purely to power the optional features above, and each one receives only what its feature needs:
Data on your device is protected by your device — we recommend a screen lock and keeping your operating system up to date. Data you sync is sent over an encrypted connection and is protected by your account credentials, with security rules that ensure only you can read your own information. If you uninstall Birma, local data is removed from your device; data you saved to the cloud stays until you delete it from the Account screen.
Birma is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Creating an account or buying a subscription is intended for users who meet the minimum age required by their app store. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove the data.
If we change how Birma handles your data, we will update this page and the date shown above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
